Since everything a toddler does become an invigorating learning experience, the images should definitely be of things that they recall, if they can name it, the better. Toddlers learn better through visual examples and what better way to do this if not with coloring pages. Hence, you can use coloring books to teach more to the toddlers than just colors, you can do the alphabet or count numbers. The alphabet or numbers can also be big enough for the children to do some coloring on them too.
All types of alphabet coloring pages available over the internet are an extension of Preschool Alphabet activities and crafts work. They have been designed in such ways that create interest in the minds of children. Simply teaching the preschools with boring alphabets may have negative impact on them. They may not find things interesting and may feel that you go too strict with them when they cannot pronounce or write the letters or able to relate to objects or things that start with the any alphabet initially. For instance they may find it difficult to remember tough words like 'H for Horse or House or Home.' You may think it is silly, but remember they are small kids, what is easy for you may not be easy for them.
When I first start teaching toddlers colors, I like to start out simply. I will give my toddler a red crayon and a white sheet of paper. Allow your toddler to freely scribble on the paper. As they are coloring, reinforce the fact that their crayon is red by saying, "That is a pretty red picture," "Are you using a red crayon?" "This is red" or "See your red picture?" You can also find a printable picture of an object that is red like an apple, and have your toddler color that picture by giving them a red crayon. Another simple craft project that you can use to teach your toddler colors is to simply cut out circles from red construction paper and help your toddler glue them to a piece of paper.
On the contrary preschool teens that are exposed to such easy learning process that makes things interesting and easier for them to study, they develop better learning skills and enjoy learning throughout life. The alphabets in colorful and designed methods help provide information much quicker and easier to the children and enable them to relate or learn things easily.
If there is an active stage in the growth of children, it is in when they are toddlers. At this age, some children will have a firm understanding of what is around them while others need something that reminds them of it. A book full of images is a sure way of keeping toddlers involved and an excellent teaching aid. If the images are plain sketches that need coloring, then the learning process is more fun and involving. You should ensure that the book holds simple coloring pages for toddlers.
To test the wits of the toddlers you can give them coloring puzzles. Let them first try to complete the puzzles and then color them once done. Since toddlers hold a perspective of what color an image should have, let them do the color they like. However, as they advance, try to push them to make the coloring resemble the actual looks of the thing represented by the images in the coloring books.
